Australasian Sonographers Day
October is recognised globally as Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month, a time to acknowledge the crucial role sonographers play within the healthcare community. As specialists in ultrasound, sonographers are celebrated for their vital contributions to patient care.
In Australia and New Zealand, we have an additional reason to celebrate. Australasian Sonographers Day is held annually on 27 October, and it is a special opportunity for the Australasian Sonographers Association (ASA) to honour the profession. This day is dedicated to recognising the skills, dedication, and impact of sonographers across the region.
How you can get involved
We invite all sonographers to join us in celebrating ASD this October. There are numerous ways you can participate and demonstrate your pride in your profession:
Host a Morning Tea: Gather with your colleagues to enjoy a morning tea in honour of ASD on 27 October. It’s a great way to share experiences and recognise the important work you do.
Engage on Social Media: Use your voice on social media to highlight the importance of sonography. Share posts about your role, use the hashtag #ProudToBeASonographer, and remember to tag ASA.
Spread Awareness: Take the opportunity to educate your family and friends about the vital role sonographers play in healthcare. Share stories that highlight why you are proud to be a part of this profession.
Resources and Merchandise
Each year, the ASA creates a range of resources and merchandise to help you celebrate ASD. The 2025 asset library and merchandise range will be available next year.
We encourage all sonographers to take part in the celebrations and make this year's Australasian Sonographers Day a memorable one. Together, let’s raise awareness of the vital work sonographers do and showcase our pride in being a part of this essential profession.
