About Advocacy

Sonographers are the experts in ultrasound. 

Each year sonographers undertake millions of medical diagnostic exams across Australia and New Zealand, providing vital services to patients and supporting the diagnosis and management of a wide range of health conditions. 

The ASA is the professional organisation representing sonographers and that advocates exclusively for sonographers and sonography patients. 

We believe all Australians and New Zealanders should have access to high quality ultrasound examinations to support optimal health outcomes.

The ASA advocates for sonographers and the public by actively engaging with members of parliament, governments, and sector stakeholders; representing their interests in sector stakeholder forums, and the through the development of position statements and submission in collaboration with our membership.
