ASA Grants

ASA Grants

The ASA's Grants Program was introduced in 2017 as a commitment to fostering and advancing the sonography profession. Since then, the program has grown to include grants for both research and clinical audit projects, and a funding pool of A$40,000. These grants aim to support and facilitate new research that contributes to sonography practice and best practice in clinical ultrasound.

NEW! ASA Special Clinical Audit Grant

The ASA Special Clinical Audit Grant, supported by Marsh, provides A$5,000 in funding to support clinical audits that evaluate and improve real-world sonography practice. This grant is designed to help sonographers assess current clinical processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes that enhance patient outcomes, service efficiency, and diagnostic accuracy.

Audit Topics for 2025

Applicants must select one of the following key focus areas:

1. Impact of sonographer report/worksheet release to referrer prior to radiologist report

This audit examines whether providing referrers with immediate access to sonographer worksheets improves patient care and treatment timelines.

2. Adequacy of patient access to ultrasound guided MSK injections in rural and remote settings

This project assesses the barriers to accessing ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections in rural and remote communities and explores potential solutions.

3. Performance of ultrasound in diagnosing abdominal pathologies in bariatric patients

This audit evaluates the diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound compared to CT and MRI in identifying abdominal pathologies in bariatric patients.
